Bodo Richardt
President
Bodo Richardt has been an accountant for over 30 years and has worked in a variety of professional practices from the Big 4 to SMPs in Germany, France and the United States. He is currently consulting SMEs and family-owned businesses and specialises in strategic advice, expert opinions on audit and accounting issues, business valuations, mediation and arbitration. He is a former member of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), the Audit and Accounting Committee of the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany (IDW), and the Advisory Board of the Wirtschaftsprüferkammer (WPK). Bodo Richardt studied mathematics, physics and economics at the Technical Universities of Hannover and München. He is a member of WPK, Bundessteuerberaterkammer (BStBK) and DStV has been EFAA President since 2014.
Maurice Buijs
Maurice Buijs – The Netherlands

Maurice Buijs is a registered accountant and auditor and has been the Chairman of the Board of Schipper Group since 2002. Schipper is a medium-sized accountancy practice with 11 offices in the Netherlands. While Maurice trained at KKC Amsterdam, KPMG’s legal predecessor, for over 30 years he has worked at Schipper mainly with SME clients. Maurice is the Chairman of CPAA International, a global network of SMP practices, where he has overseen human resource development and training.
Maurice is a Board Member of the Nederlandse Beroepsorganisatie van Accountants (NBA - The Royal Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants the Netherlands) and has been a member of the EFAA Board since 2016.
Dr. Carlos Menezes
Carlos Menezes, M.Acct, Ph.D. - Portugal

Dr. Carlos Menezes is a Lecturer in Financial Accounting, in Ethics, Deontology and Accountability and in Research on Accounting for Public and Non-profit Organizations at the School of Economics and Management in the University of Minho [PT]. Dr. Menezes is a graduate of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa: BCh (Management); University of Minho: M.Acct (Accounting and Auditing); Federation University: Ph.D. (Accounting).
Dr. Menezes has held different management positions in the Portuguese government, mainly in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Labour. He has been a guest speaker on employment policies and on accounting and accountability in private and public organizations for industry and academic organizations. Dr. Menezes has over 20 years of university experience in teaching accounting subjects. Dr. Menezes’ main research interests are broadly concerned with Social and Environmental Accountability; Accounting in the private, public and nonprofit sectors and Accounting and Management History.
Dr. Menezes was elected as a member of the EFAA Board in June 2018.
Aleksander Štefanac
Aleksander Štefanac – Slovenia
EFAA Board Member
Aleksander Štefanac obtained the certificate of qualification for managing accounting companies in 2001. He is the owner and general manager of FACTA d.o.o. For the last 11 year, Aleksander has been the President of the Chamber of Accounting Services, an Associate member of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also the Chairman of the Certification Commission.
Aleksander is member of the Rotary club Maribor Grad, of which he is treasurer since May 2012. He speaks four languages: Croatian, English, German and Serbian.
Marcus Tuschen
Marcus Tuschen – Germany

Marcus Tuschen is a Tax Adviser and Certified Auditor. Since 1991 he has been a partner in a small practice of around 30 employees in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. After finishing his Business Studies at the University of Paderborn in 1985, he worked as a Tax Consultant and Audit Assistant. After becoming a certified Tax Adviser in 1989 and a Certified Auditor in 1991 he was promoted to be a partner of the practice. While the focus of his work is audit, accounting and tax advice for SMEs he also works as a certified quality control auditor. Marcus has been a member of the Board of the Association of Tax Advisers of Westphalia-Lippe since 1999 and its President since 2011; he is also Vice President of the German Association of Tax Advisers (DStV) since 2013. Marcus has been an EFAA Board member since 2016.

 
Paul Thompson
Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson is EFAA Director and a consultant dedicated to thought leadership and development of the global accountancy profession. From 2004 to 2016 Mr. Thompson worked for IFAC latterly as Director, Global Accountancy Profession Support, a role that extended to overseeing the IFAC Global Knowledge Gateway, research and innovation, and activities in support of small- and medium-sized practices (SMP) and professional accountants in business (PAIB). Mr. Thompson also serves on the SME Implementation Group, an advisory body to the International Accounting Standard Board (Board), and is a member of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia’s Industry Advisory Board (IAB), an advisory group providing strategic advice to the Business School. He advises developing professional accountancy organisations in Europe and Asia. Previously Mr. Thompson worked for Touche Ross & Co., London before going on to lecture on corporate reporting and analysis at universities in the UK, Singapore, and Malaysia. He has a number of publications in academic journals and the professional press in the areas of ethical finance, corporate reporting, corporate governance, integrated reporting, practice management and the future of the profession. Mr. Thompson graduated from the University of Warwick with a bachelor of science in accounting and financial analysis and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Mr. Thompson is an internationally ranked masters distance runner.
Robin Jarvis

Robin Jarvis is Professor of Accounting and Finance at Brunel University, UK. He was awarded the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Life Time Achievement Award in 2012 in recognition of his contribution to academic accounting and finance. He is a visiting professor at Bamberg University and sits on the editorial board of four academic journals. Currently, Robin is a member of the Board of the Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board where he chairs their Stakeholder Forum. From a European perspective Robin is a member of the European Commission’s Financial Services User Group (FSUG) and a member of the Committee of Transparency and Independence of the EU’s Finance Watch. He was also a member of the EFRAG Board for 11 years. The IASB appointed Robin in 2005 to their working group to develop IFRS for SMEs. For many years Robin has held directorships in commercial companies. Prior to returning to academia Robin worked for the ACCA as a Special Adviser.
Marie Lang

Marie Lang graduated with honours with a degree in Economics from Lancaster University, England and is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the ICAEW. She was Senior Manager at KPMG dealing with Audit, Assurance and Transaction Services engagements for large and multinational listed companies. She spent 9 years at KPMG in total which included a 1 year secondment to KPMG Prague. She left KPMG to work in the SME sector where she spent 8 years in the position of CFO having overall responsibility for financial reporting matters. She is currently a Director at GBAC Accountants and Business Advisers, an SMP focusing primarily on SME issues.
