EFAA

European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SMEs.

EFAA Board: Geoffrey Britton

Version to print

Geoffrey Britton was elected President of EFAA at the General Assembly 2009. He previously served as Board member of EFAA from 2006 to 2009. He represents the Association of Authorised Public Accountants which is one of the 3 English accountancy associations designated by the UK authorities as qualifying for Recognised Supervisory Body status for statutory audit purposes. Being a member of ACCA regulatory committees and a Council member of AAPA, Mr. Britton brings experience of how major accountancy bodies operate.

Now employing about 40 people, Mr. Britton's practice based in Barnsley, has grown organically since the early 1970's. The firm covers a wide range of accounting, audit and tax related disciplines and is an Approved Employer practice of ACCA, which also monitors the firm's audit activities. The practice is primarily aimed at the provision of its services to owner managed businesses and has clients in many parts of the world.

Apart from his own practice experience Geoffrey Britton's early careers in the family business environments of heavy foundries and farming enabled him to experience the way of life universally common to almost all SMEs. The tradition continues. His wife runs her own retail store and his 3 sons operate their own businesses in computing, photography and restaurants. The challenges facing SMEs are therefore no stranger to him and running an SME as well as advising others forms an integral part of the core understanding at his practice.
